O Mundo Sob Escuta

By Duncan Campbell

Year: 2001 | Frenesi

(Portuguese)

Synopsis

With the emergence of the concept of industrial espionage in Europe, there has been a number of responses, mostly indicating the USA participation. The American administration has often refused to comment on the accusations. However, the US government organised a briefing for foreign journalists on the 10 March 2000. The meeting was conducted by a former CIA director, James Woolsey. Mr Woolsey described Duncan Campbell's IC 2000 report to the European Parliament as "intellectually honest".
'...Yes my dear continental Europeans, we have been spying on you. It is also true that we have used computers to research data through key words...'
